Dear Members and Friends,
Greetings friends! Hope you are staying healthy and safe. It's very difficult to know what is going on with COVID-19 protocols, but we are in close touch with the Presbytery who are working with the Governor’s office to bring us the latest information and changes. As of right now, we are maintaining a policy of staying safe by encouraging folks to wear masks when in the church building. When we sing, it is with masks and seated. And to this point, we have been able to keep the windows open, but in the weeks ahead, if we need air conditioning, wearing masks at worship will be even more important. Hope to see you in church either at 8:00 AM or 10:00 AM this Sunday!
This coming Saturday, August 7th, we will have a funeral in the sanctuary for Brian Smith. Visitation begins at 9:30 AM with a service planned for 11:00 AM. I hope you can stop by and express your condolences and thanks to his family, especially his daughters Julia and Jackie. Brian has contributed a great deal to our church family over the years and we give thanks for the care he has shown for us, keeping us safe and helping us be prudent (i.e. solar panel system).
Although it's summertime, there is important work that’s happening among us. Brenda Rupp is managing our building use which has been very busy with visiting mission groups. The kitchen is being utilized, the food pantry is busier than ever. Groups are planning gatherings and meetings. Kim Grahsler has put together a wonderful “pizza-box VBS kit” for our children and their families. Even though we won’t have a live week of vacation bible school, children can make use of this tool to learn five important bible lessons, with associated crafts, games and projects. Make sure your children (grandchildren) have one to share with their family this summer!
Rev. Jeannie Collins continues to assist us with social media and updating our website (www.brigchurch.org). Go take a look and if you have any ideas or suggestions, please let her know! Jeannie is also serving the Tuckerton Presbyterian Church as pastor part time, and Drew McCrosson is working overtime as our Clerk of Session. He has been in close contact with the Presbytery to make sure we are doing everything decently and in order. Drew is responsible for arranging for worship leaders for the months of October and November. Please keep him in your prayers.
Please join us LIVE on Sunday Mornings at 8:00 AM and/or 10:00 AM for singing, and 10:15 AM for worship. Use this link www.facebook.com/brigchurch.org. If you haven’t joined us for “virtual worship”, give me a call - you need to join us! The CHURCH WEBSITE is www.brigchurch.org. My email is jrscotland@aol.com. My cell phone is (609) 457-2999.
