Dear Members and Friends,
As Lent begins, the numbers of new cases of COVID19 are dropping significantly all over the country. Sadly, there are still over 2,000 dying each day. But if we can “stop the spread” perhaps the end of the Pandemic will come into sight. We hope and we pray it to be so.
Meanwhile, the more folks that get vaccinated, the better. Karen Bew has coordinated help from the City, the School, and the Fire Department Office of Emergency Management to assist our Seniors in Brigantine to make an appointment to get the vaccine at the Atlantic County/Atlantic Care site at the AC Convention Center. Call the church office (609 266-7942) to get more information. Wear your mask, stay socially distant and wash your hands!
The session will meet this Thursday and will consider a “Plan to Re-Enter the Sanctuary for Worship”. Mind you, this is just a plan. No date has been discussed, let alone set. However, overwhelmingly, the desire to continue doing worship online via Facebook Livestream has been heard. Whatever the plan looks like, it will include continuing worship online!!!
This Sunday, we intend to have just a few (less than 10) participants come to the Sanctuary so that we can Ordain our new Elders and Deacon. This involves a tradition of laying on of hands’ that dates back to the very early church. Congratulations to Rose Haefele and Paul Robinson who are new Elders and to Ree Leeds O’Brien who will be ordained as a Deacon. A handful of Ruling Elders now on Session will be present for the ceremony that will be available to everyone on Facebook. Elders and Deacons who are being “installed” and have been ordained previously are asked to participate online… when we ask the questions regarding willingness to serve, please indicate your answer by writing “yes” in the comment field.
Rev. Jeanie Collins has compiled a Lenten Devotional for our use during these forty days. It will be available electronically and in paper edition through the office. The Upper Room and These Days are also available at your request. Just call the office at (609) 266-7942!
