Dear Members and Friends,
Happy New Year! As 2021 begins, Annie and I are moving to a new house in Mays Landing at 681 Park Road. We are within a block of “The Cove” at Lake Lenape and two blocks from Young’s Skating Rink with grandchildren in mind! We are grateful to John and Sue Ferguson who provided housing for us since October and although we are sad about leaving our residence in Brigantine, we are excited about the new possibilities of the next stage of our lives in a new home. For now, I will be commuting daily to the church just like Brenda does four days each week (and Ginger Mastrangelo told me it's really not so bad!).
We are all anxious to get back to live worship together but we will need to be patient, faithful, and safe for a while longer yet…here is the update on COVID-19. As I read from her text last Sunday, Lori Herndon (CEO AtlanticCare) has warned us that January could be the worst month of the pandemic to date. The vaccine is the best means of controlling the virus. In the meantime, wear a mask, wash your hands, and keep your social distancing diligently!
Ready to get the vaccine? God to covidvaccine.nj.gov and register to receive the vaccine when it becomes available for you. We will probably be able to get it at the CVS or perhaps at the Atlantic City Convention Center. If you are questioning the safety/efficacy of the vaccine, please look for science-based data for your answers, not just the opinions of others on social media! Everyone has the right to make their own personal decision, but remember our obligation to one another’s health and safety! Please strongly consider getting the vaccine when you can.
As for our plans? The Worship Committee has met and outlined a plan for returning to live worship. That draft will go to the Session at our January 14th meeting and if approved, will be sent on to the Presbytery Commission on Ministry for final acceptance. If the virus subsides and if the vaccination process accelerates as anticipated, we may be back together in person, sooner than later!
