Dear Members and Friends,
Annie is recovering extraordinarily well after foot surgery last Friday. She has to keep her foot above her heart all the time and must apply ice to the back of her knee and the top of her foot every ½ hour... but there is no infection, no swelling and no pain. If all goes as planned, she will be a bit more ambulatory in ten days. We are getting a taste of retirement a bit early, spending every day, all day together. It will be great when Annie has fully recovered!
Meanwhile, I was exposed to COVID-19 a week ago while working at Sister Jeans' Pantry in AC. Two days ago, I got tested so we are hoping its negative. And while getting ready for Annie's operation, I cut down some brush and high grass on our wooded lot here in Mays Landing and came down with chiggers. Oh, joy. Lots of time to wash everything I've touched in hot water and will get "Chig-Away" at the drug store. So, its been a week of convalescence, COVID and chiggers!
Brenda is taking care of coordination at the church office. She will be on vacation next week and a number of volunteers have stepped up to be in the office to answer phones and keep our ministry together moving ahead. I can be reached by cell phone as needed.
The Thrift Shop volunteers have done a phenomenal job this summer! They are open on Saturdays in the morning to receive donations and customers. Rose Haefele says that they are making as much from one day as we used to when we were open three days. Thanks again to all her helpers who work so hard. And, across the hall from the Thrift Shop, Karen Mayer and Chris Connelly are coordinating a basket auction on Saturdays for the month of August. Thanks to all of the volunteers working on this effort.
The Choir joined us at 10:15 AM worship this past week, along with nearly 40 folks in worship. The Choir will be practicing on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 PM - here is your chance! And the congregational meeting went off as planned this past Sunday (technology actually worked), many thanks to Clerk of Session Drew McCrosson for planning and communication.
