Dear Members and Friends,

This coming week, Annie and I are going on vacation for a week from Wednesday to Wednesday. We will be back in the office on Thursday, July 29th, preparing for worship on August 1st, a Sunday that will include the celebration of communion.

On Sunday July 25th, please come to worship or tune in on Facebook to hear our guest preacher Rev. Jeffrey Eaton. Jeffrey is an ordained pastor of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America. He was educated at Rutgers University and received his Masters of Divinity and Ph.D. from Princeton Theological Seminary. He was chaplain and a member of the Religion Department at Hamilton College for a decade, after which he returned to New Jersey and was pastor of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in New Brunswick, where he was a founder of Elijah’s Promise Community Kitchen and developed housing for homeless families in Middlesex County. He is married to Sharon and they have a daughter Juliane and two grandchildren. He retired in 2017 and lives in Ventnor. Sharon and Jeff are attending the Ocean Heights Presbyterian Church when Jeff isn’t preaching on Sunday. And, Jeff is a member of the Board of the Friends of Jean Webster. Please welcome Jeff to the Brigantine community!

Meanwhile, Brenda returned from vacation to find the building filled with young people who are enjoying a “mission” experience here on the Jersey Shore. The groups have been working at Sister Jeans Pantry, the Community Gardens in Atlantic City and also with the New Rock City Presbyterian Church mission at the Stanley Holmes Village in Atlantic City. If you are at the church during the week and see our guests, please give them a warm (no kidding) welcome!

The New Members Discovery Class has been happening on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 PM. We are going to skip a week and resume on Tuesday night August 3rd when our Committee leaders will be sharing with new members how our church is organized and how they can get more involved. Session, which usually takes the summer off, will meet on the fourth Thursday of August (26th) to welcome new members and work on the transition to new pastoral leadership.
