Dear Members and Friends,
Sorry about not writing a letter last week, but I was in a rotten mood! Because of the ongoing financial crisis in Atlantic City due to the COVID-19 in part, the Governor’s Office has held up any spending by the CRDA… so, Sister Jean’s Kitchen has been delayed AGAIN! The Friends of Jean Webster intend to open an emergency food pantry at 108 N. Pennsylvania Avenue as soon as possible so please keep us in your prayers and watch for news of the reopening of Sister Jean’s Kitchen Pantry! We will need donations, volunteers, and lots of support!
Meanwhile, back at home, we have a Take-Out Chicken Dinner available this Saturday but there are only 24 tickets left as I write this letter. Many thanks to Pam and Bill Schneider who have organized the event in lieu of Summer Fest… and in preparation for Take-Out Turkey Dinner on Election Day in just two months or so. Thanks too to all the volunteers (John Sharpe!) who are helping put the Chicken Dinner together and making the deliveries.
Watch for upcoming news about Flu Shots (Monday, September 28th here at the church). Member Care is also looking for young people who need a care package. Just give us their name and current address and we’ll take care of the rest! Send it to the office or Jim Walker or Connie Coia or any member of the Member Care Committee.
If you know of anyone interested in becoming a member of our church family, please let me know. Give me their address, cell phone number and/or their email so I can organize New Member classes online (Zoom Member Classes). We will need sponsors too! And we are going to have to come up with a new way to welcome and celebrate new members joining… hmmm, think about that one and send me your idea (jrscotland@aol.com).
Annie and I will be taking a short hiatus until September 19th but the church office is open and Brenda is there every day from 8am to 4 pm, Monday through Thursday. Call her at (609) 266-7942.
